Obesity: a major and growing public health problem Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI[1]) equal to or greater than 30, and has a significant impact on the health of those concerned. Caused by a high-calorie diet, lack of physical activity and predisposing genetic factors, obesity is a major risk factor for many chronic diseases. Indeed, obesity leads to intermediate risk factors such as hypertension, dyslipidemia[2], insulin resistance and systemic inflammation, increasing the likelihood of serious pathologies such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers.
The challenges associated with daily travel are numerous: environmental impact, lack of accessibility for all, regional inequalities. To mark World Mobility and Accessibility Day, we spoke to Cécile Gouesse, Eurogroup Consulting's partner in charge of mobility. By Jean de Boisfleury, Director and Loïck ULLIAC, Consultant Ecological challenges, particularly those linked to the reduction of greenhouse gases, call for greater use of public transport. But in a context of budgetary constraints, we still need to identify the levers that will make these modes of transport truly attractive. In a few pioneering conurbations, free public transport has begun to take hold. But under what conditions? Is it really compatible with the "supply shock" called for by the Union des Transports Publics? And could it be rolled out nationwide?

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), applicable from January 1, 2024, sets new standards and obligations for non-financial reporting within the European Union. The implementation of this directive requires companies to accelerate the development of a coherent sustainability policy aligned with European ambitions on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
In a context where the medical demographic is very fragile, even precarious, public health facilities face a real puzzle. How to ensure continuity of care that meets the needs of the population while optimizing medical time and better responding to the quality of work-life requirements of caregivers?
By Caroline SCHWARTZ, Manager The findings of the latest IPCC report are unequivocal: global warming is underway—a rise of 1.1°C since the end of the 20th century—and this trend will continue unless greenhouse gas emissions are reduced significantly and rapidly. France’s national low-carbon strategy has set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with an interim target of reducing GHG emissions by 40% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. The hospital sector finds itself in a paradoxical position: as a source of 8% of GHG emissions in France—equivalent to 49 million tons of CO2—it contributes to the climate crisis just as much as it suffers its effects, even as it is on the front lines in addressing the impacts on the physical and mental health of the population.
At a time when France is presenting a Military Programming Law that has no equivalent in the past, and in a context where the risk of high-intensity warfare is very high, France needs to adopt a more proactive and uncompromising innovation policy. This article was published in Les Echos on July 13, 2023, following the publication of the Institut Montaigne report entitled Innovation de Défense, des instruments à renforcer.

GLOBAL RUSH TO DECARBONIZE OUR INDUSTRIES In the face of successive crises, this is not a choice, it's an emergency of which every nation is now aware. Europe has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, while China is catching its breath after the health crisis and rushing with all its might towards the energy transition. The countries of South and East Asia are determined to position themselves in decarbonized products. Against a backdrop of trade war, the Americans are protecting their economy with the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and injecting tens of billions of dollars into the climate component of their stimulus package. In short, we are experiencing a global rush to decarbonize our industries. The economies that achieve it first will have a formidable competitive advantage.
