Decarbonize and enter the era of the circular economy to achieve carbon-neutral transport by 2050
The automotive and mobility sector is undergoing rapid and unprecedented change, driven by a combination of factors: growing pressure to address climate and environmental issues, changing regulations and changing customer expectations. Against this backdrop, the industry is adapting, with a strong acceleration towards electric vehicles for new vehicles. This transition has a major impact on the upstream and downstream parts of the industry, which must find new growth drivers.
Mission objective: help players in the automotive and mobility sector to innovate and gradually move towards the energy and environmental transition, through the deployment and acceptance of decarbonization and circular economy solutions.
Support in place
We have supported the first phase of the DIMo project (Decarbonizing the Mobility Industry), which consists of taking stock of the obstacles to be overcome and the actions to be launched to develop decarbonization and the circular economy within the automotive industry in the Seine Valley.
More than 50 interviews with local stakeholders (institutional & industrial) to identify their obstacles and needs. Two benchmarks on the state of the ELV* sector and on circular economy platforms for the plastics sector.
*End-of-life vehicles
Identification of 4 circular loops with major implications for the region: electronics, battery, powertrain, plastics.
Group workshops with over 70 stakeholders to identify key actions to be implemented.
Prioritization of actions identified in interviews and workshops and consolidation of a prioritized roadmap for phase 2 of the project.
Formalization of "action sheets" for priority projects
The results
And tomorrow?
Defining a roadmap for decarbonization and the circular economy is the first step in setting a course and federating the players in the various value chains. The challenge is then to "move to action" by implementing the first emblematic initiatives that will create a "snowball effect". The key to success lies in putting in place the conditions to guarantee the economic viability of these business models: massification of material flows, access to financing, cooperation between manufacturers and public authorities... Eurogroup Consulting's teams are fully mobilized to support the implementation of these virtuous ecosystems.
It also means meeting growing expectations in terms of the meaning of work, quality of life, inclusion and the development of digital skills, while remaining attractive to tomorrow's talent.
