And that's four! In April 2024, Eurogroup Consulting is offering its fourth «Parcours Rebond» immersion session to combat age-related hiring discrimination. This approach is part of a comprehensive set of actions implemented over two years ago and which is proving effective.

REBOUND PATH – COMBATING AGE DISCRIMINATION IN THE CONSULTING SECTOR


 

In 2023, the employment rate of seniors in France was lower than the European Union average, according to  The Directorate for Research, Studies and Statistics Promotion 

In the consulting profession, Age remains a significant source of discrimination.

In fact, each year, our firm recruits approximately 100 employees, the vast majority of whom are recent graduates from top schools or universities, thus lowering the average age to 33.

Aware of its societal role and convinced of its ability to drive change, Eurogroup Consulting has designed and deployed a unique initiative in the consulting sector to promote employment for those over 45.

A win-win solution that allows us to tap into a pool of senior skills to address a tight market for qualified talent.

 

The consulting profession as a «bounce back» path»


 

 

The diversification of employee profiles, whether it be people who are distant from employment or people wishing to pursue their careers, represents a great opportunity.: 

  • To act for real social inclusion impact; ;  
  • To intervene as closely as possible to the needs of some of our clients; ;
  • To have a pool of proven skills in a tight job market for qualified expertise; ;
  • To enrich each other mutually by sharing experiences and know-how.

 

Since its implementation, this program has exceeded expectations and has allowed us to recruit individuals seeking a career rebound.

The «rebound» program, implemented in partnership with’APECgives people aged 45 and over, who are far from employment, the opportunity to find a new career horizon in the consulting profession.

While no diploma is required, candidates are expected to have a perfect command of the French language, office software, and above all, strong motivation.

The “rebound” track is one of three tracks offered by our firm as part of its efforts to promote senior employment.

Alongside this, a “late career” program is aimed at specialists who wish to continue contributing their expertise and know-how, either at the very end of their career or once they reach retirement age. One of our employees was hired at the age of 68. via this device, in October 2023.

 

Original recruitment methods

The fourth session, currently underway (April 2025), hosts six candidates (four women and two men) for one week. The objective: to support a mission within the firm by participating in client meetings and collaborating with a team of consultants.

This operational immersion allows them to experience the reality of the job and test their skills in a real-world situation. The week concludes with collective and individual debriefing workshops. This essential time allows candidates, in collaboration with operational staff and human resources, to refine their perception of the job, their understanding of the program and the immersion mission, as well as their potential decision regarding their commitment to the consulting profession.

To ensure the best integration and foster intergenerational connections, the firm has developed a mentoring system. Each consultant recruited through this program is paired with a mentor, who is one of the junior consultants. At Eurogroup Consulting, sharing, knowledge transfer, and exchange between generations are a strength, and the diversity of skills is a richness.

To ensure the success of this initiative and bring all employees on board, everyone participated in awareness sessions on combating all forms of discrimination.

Our Partnership with Force Femmes

To combat the double discrimination of age and gender, Eurogroup Consulting has undertaken a specific initiative with APEC and the association Force Females, targeting women aged 45 and over who are distant from employment. Following a week of immersion in our firm, 3 candidates were hired on permanent contracts as junior consultants, participated and 3 candidates were hired on permanent contracts.

A Record Number of Applications for the Fourth Edition (April 2025)


 

From April 14 to 18, 2025, the firm conducted the fourth immersion session for candidates who met the criteria of our program. Six individuals (four women and two men between 45 and 60 years old) were selected from a record number of 22 high-quality applications, demonstrating the interest and relevance of such a program.

Their very diverse paths are in tune with the times, with some of them having spent their entire careers within the same company, while others have already made one or more «career changes» and would be starting their third, or even fourth new career with us!

The most open selection possible

The CV is not taken into account at all in the selection of participants for the immersion week. Consequently, none of the criteria relating to past experience in consulting or managerial responsibilities are discriminatory.

Identical since the program's launch in 2023, the selection method focuses primarily on the candidate's desire to learn or relearn a trade, their awareness of the expected attitude, and their ability to demonstrate adaptability, motivation, and curiosity.

Following a review with all candidates on their perception of our profession and their assessment of the immersion week, the recruitment teams evaluate the relevance of hiring one or more of them.
