Discover the book "Engagements - Acting, Embodying, Passing on".

On the occasion of its 40th anniversaryEurogroup Consulting, an independent French consulting firm, has published a collective work devoted to the issue of commitment. Led by Gilles Bonnenfant, Chairman of Eurogroup Consulting, this book is the fruit of a collective reflection that explores the central role of commitment in our societies from a variety of perspectives.

To speak of commitment is to place ourselves at the crossroads of our individual choices and our collective destinies. Commitment forms the glue that binds our organizations and societies together, as much as it shapes our personal trajectories.

In this respect, to speak of commitment is to open up a vast field of discussion that leads us to the intersection of viewpoints, disciplines and expertise, in order to analyze and anticipate trends in society and organizations. Such is the ambition of this book, which brings together the reflections of a highly diverse collective.

A COLLECTIVE WORK DEDICATED TO THE QUESTION OF COMMITMENT

Eurogroup Consulting is a story of independence, development, solidity, solidarity and transmission. But it's also a story of commitment The company's commitment to its employees, the employees' commitment to the collective, from generation to generation, to support the major transformations of organizations and society.

Eurogroup Consulting examined and questioned the subject of commitment. Testimonials from entrepreneurs, managers, citizens and players from all sectors of activity, historical benchmarks, theoretical keys and practical tools... The aim of this book is to bring together different points of viewIts kaleidoscopic and polymorphic nature reflects the diversity of forms and meanings of commitment. Its kaleidoscopic and polymorphic character reflects the diversity of forms and meanings that commitment takes. It opens up avenues for reflection on a theme that will be one of the keys to understanding and reading the world in the years to come.

Understand, develop, accelerate and promote engagement

At a time when the Covid-19 health crisis has shattered a number of structuring frameworks, both within and outside companies, when individual aspirations are taking on an increasingly important role in relation to the collective, and when the aspirations of different generations seem to be changing in the face of the major challenges posed by transitions, Eurogroup Consulting set out to examine the issues involved in a concept undergoing change.

  • Questioning commitment in order to understand the driving forces and motivations thanks to numerous theoretical contributions in economics, psychology and philosophy, supported by the work of Sartre, Gallup, Honneth, Kiesler, Wittgenstein and many others.

  • Examine this notion in order to analyze and anticipate trends in society and organizations on major questions: How do you foster social cohesion within your teams? How can we create support for a long-term vision? Is there a crisis of commitment? How can we create a society?

  • Ask questions to making organizations' commitments concreteWe're here to help, at a time when transitions are transforming the field of action.

Gilles Bonnenfant's viewpoint

We have entered a time of major transitions, affecting both individuals and organizations. While these transitions question our relationship with the future, they are also considerable sources of commitment, both individually and collectively. Companies need to position themselves even more clearly and question their impact on the world. They will have to develop new areas of commitment and diversify the schemes that will enable everyone to find ways of getting involved and taking action, both within and outside the organization. On the occasion of Eurogroup Consulting's 40th anniversary, the approach adopted for this collective work made perfect sense. Without proposing a single answer, or a "guide" for managers, our aim is to use these analyses to help people move from thought to action, from the individual to the collective.
