Shippers and freight forwarders are the key influencers of the modes of transport used, and are at the heart of the concerns of transport companies. Eurogroup Consulting has published the 2020 edition of its Barometer of shippers' perceptions of rail and combined transport. Conducted as part of European Rail Freight Day, it gives shippers the opportunity to express their views and assess their perceptions of rail and combined transport.
Eurogroup Consulting produces this barometer every year, in partnership with AUTF, GNTC, AFRA, Institut du Commerce, TLF, OFP, UTP, UIC, France Chimie and SNCF Réseau. These data are updated from one year to the next, to define trends and provide a vision for industry players. The analytical elements of the 2020 edition are based on the facts of 2019.
Additional questions were put to the panel in May 2020 to assess the impact of the health and economic crisis on the use of transport modes, as well as their future prospects.
The information gathered provides an overview of the modal split favored by shippers for transporting their goods, as well as the clarity of the rail offer and associated satisfaction. These considerations point to trends in rail freight over the next few years.
