Presented as part of the\u00a0<strong>Maritime Day<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sitl.eu\/fr-fr.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Transport and Logistics Innovation Week 2023 (SITL)<\/a>. This barometer aims to\u00a0<strong>giving a voice to shippers<\/strong>\u00a0and assess their perceptions of shipping.<\/p><p>The elements of this Barometer are updated every year in order to\u00a0<strong>define trends and offer a global vision to industry players.<\/strong>\u00a0The elements of analysis in the 2022 edition are based on the facts of the year 2022.<\/p><p>The responses received provide an overview of :<\/p><ul><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\">the\u00a0<strong>preferred modal split<\/strong>\u00a0by shippers to transport their goods,<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\">the<strong>\u00a0a clear maritime offering<\/strong>,<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\">and the\u00a0<strong>satisfaction<\/strong>\u00a0associated.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-96f1713 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"96f1713\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The panel is made up of companies of significant size, including\u00a0<b>78% of respondents belonging to companies with sales in excess of 1 billion euros.\u00a0<\/b><b>44% panel\u00a0<\/b>is both\u00a0<b>importer and exporter. The distribution, food processing and chemical industry sectors make up 85% of the panel of respondents.\u00a0<\/b>The majority of the panel has its\u00a0<b>decision center for transport purchases located in France<\/b>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ead517 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"4ead517\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-354cdf3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"354cdf3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>SHIPPING PURCHASES<\/h2><hr style=\"border: 0; height: 2px; background-color: #00ade9; margin: 0 0 2em 0;\" \/><ul><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>44% of the panel purchase transport directly only<\/b>, This represents an increase of 22 points on the previous year. 37% manages part of its transport directly and uses a forwarding agent for specific flows.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>The entire panel decides on the choice of port<\/b>, 22 points over the previous year.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>74% panel seeks to discuss or influence port choice\u00a0<\/b><b>when the services of a freight forwarder are used.<\/b><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-60b7d63 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"60b7d63\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 style= \"color: #FFFFFF;\"><em>The majority of shippers surveyed are decision-makers when it comes to choosing the shipping line, port and inland carrier.<\/em><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d5a310 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"7d5a310\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23d8e55 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23d8e55\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>PORT USAGE<\/h2>\n\n<hr style=\"border: 0; height: 2px; background-color: #00ade9;\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e1743d7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e1743d7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>HAROPA, GPM Marseille-Fos and Port of Antwerp confirm their privileged positions for flows to and from France<\/h4><hr style=\"width: 70px; height: 2px; background: #00ade9; border: 0; margin: 0 0 2em 0;\" \/><div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>The panel uses 3 main entry and exit points in France:\u00a0<b>HAROPA, Marseille-Fos and Antwerp<\/b>. Trends in service quality vary considerably from one port to another. The Port of Marseille has the best result on this dimension.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>The range of stopovers,\u00a0<\/b>in 3rd place according to the previous barometer, becomes\u00a0<b>the top priority for French ports\u00a0<\/b>this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6530d5d e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"6530d5d\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9789b2e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9789b2e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>GROUND TRANSPORTATION<\/h2><hr style=\"border: 0; height: 2px; background-color: #00ade9;\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7e4e971 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7e4e971\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Shippers continue to strengthen their commitment to modal shift, particularly to river transport<\/h4><hr style=\"width: 70px; height: 2px; background: #00ade9; border: 0; margin: 0 0 2em 0;\" \/><div class=\"standard-arrow list-divider bullet-top\"><ul><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>Shippers' modal shift commitments on the rise\u00a0<\/b>compared with the previous edition: +11 for rail transport and +17 for river transport.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>56% of the panel have a commitment to modal shift to combined transport (rail\/road)\u00a0<\/b>pre- and post-carriage.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>Cost and lead time\u00a0<\/b>are the most important criteria for choosing ground transportation, consistent with the 2 previous editions of the barometer.<\/li><li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>Environmental issues become the third most important criterion<\/b>, It was 5th last year.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1ad1d7e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1ad1d7e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Road transport remains the main mode for pre- and post-carriage.<\/h4>\n\n<hr style=\"width: 70px; height: 2px; background: #00ade9; border: 0; margin: 0 0 2em 0;\" \/>\n\n<ul>\n \t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>More than half of the panel uses road haulage with more than 75% for pre-carriage.<\/b>\u00a0in France.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\">Other land transport modes were slightly down on last year.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em;\"><b>Road transport remains the most important post-carriage mode<\/b>, This is down on the results of the previous barometer (37% of the panel use this mode to more than 50%, i.e. -46 points on the previous edition).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5142173 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5142173\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63e8034 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"63e8034\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>SHIPPING COMPANIES<\/h2><hr style=\"border: 0; height: 2px; background-color: #00ade9;\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a135ff2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a135ff2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>The panel's top three most popular shipping lines<\/h4><hr style=\"width: 70px; height: 2px; background: #00ade9; border: 0; margin: 0 0 2em 0;\" \/><div class=\"standard-arrow list-divider bullet-top\"><p>Visit\u00a0<b>CMA-CGM\u00a0<\/b>continues to be the panel's most popular shipping company, with 93% of the panel using its services.\u00a0<b>Maersk\u00a0<\/b>takes third place ahead of\u00a0<b>MSC\u00a0<\/b>down 12 points on last year.
